Middlesbrough Art Week 2023

I had the honour of being part of the ‘Punchcard’ exhibition at Middlesbrough Art Week this year.

Each artist was given a postcard, and 15 minutes to complete the front and back – including preparation.

It was really challenging, but fun. I was able to try out techniques I’d been too scared to try (Airbrush and frisk film) and learnt a lot during the process. I was happy with the piece; it was far from perfect – the tape I used tore away some of the postcard surface, ink spilled from the airbrush and blotted in the work – but I think this was an apt illustration of the challenge of trying to make art in 15 minutes.
