A chamber, in the hall of the demiurge. I wanted to make something purely monochromatic, abstract, whilst still evoking a sense of realism – depicting a space that felt both liminal and believable. In the end, I decided to add some greys to break up the black and white, along with spattered dust. I’m glad I did. Probably my most stripped-back painting to date, but I feel it has a lot of character.
